Career Outline:

Mr McCann gained a grade "A" A’level in Computer Science at the age of 14 and, before taking his first degree, gained computing experience working for a commercial software house for two years. After graduating, he worked for the Small Business Research Centre in Cambridge before moving to Graham Bannock and Partners Limited (GB&P - now Bannock Consulting Ltd) in early 1991, where he stayed until May 1996.

In May 1996, Mr McCann left GB&P to found his own consultancy, McCannics. Through GB&P he retains responsibility for the production of the NatWest/Small Business Research Trust Quarterly Survey of Small Business in Britain, the 3i Enterprise Barometer, the NatWest Survey of Smaller Exporters and the Association of British Insurers’ Quarterly Inflation Report. McCannics has also carried out other economic research projects, including, with Profundus Consulting, a study on segmenting the European SME Telecomms Market.

McCannics has also established itself as a web-site design company. Its first major commission was the Central Banking site (www.centralbanking.co.uk). In July 1997 McCannics also launched the isurvey (formerly the e-survey), a monthly survey of UK businesses, carried out by e-mail and published on the web (at www.isurvey.co.uk).
