He's Home!

Yes, John Kenneth McCann is finally home. He's had his first feed and is hiccuping away in the cot in which Mandy spent her first few years (it's had a lick of paint).

The doctor did his rounds this morning and said that John could come home, so we just had to do a bit of paperwork then we were able to bring him back with us. We got back at about twelve o'clock. He slept all the way home and once we had got his cot sorted out he had a good feed. He has so far been a little angel.

Mum didn't think it was a very good idea to have the champagne we had been saving on an empty stomach - I hope motherhood is not going to make her too boring - so I made us a bit of lunch. I need to drop off a note at the doctors then I will go and try to register the birth. Maybe then we will have the champagne.

We want to really enjoy John's first few days at home, so I may not get around to updating these pages as often, but I will try.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and messages of support - once things settle down we will try to be in touch with you all.

It has been an odd eleven days - Mandy says the worst and best she has ever had. I was going to say I hope things will get back to normal now, but I don't think things will ever be the same again. We know it will be a while before we know exactly how John will be, but for now he is just the most perfect little boy ever.

John is still hiccuping.

John Kenneth song competition

On the way back from the hospital, we couldn't help singing, to the tune of "Three Lions" by the Lightning Seeds:

	He's coming home,
	He's coming home,
	John is coming home,
	He's coming home,
	He's coming home.

With Pooh Bear on his shirt,
la de da de da dah.
	Eleven days ago,
	he was born in Preston.
	Now he's going home,
	with his Sunday best on.

	He's coming home,
	He's coming home,
	John is coming home,
	He's coming home,
	He's coming home.
A bit sad - anyone do any better?
