Since July 1997, McCannics,
which helps to carry out a number of the most well-respected
traditional postal business surveys, including the
NatWest/SBRT Quarterly Survey of Small
Business in Britain and the 3i Enterprise Barometer,
has been carrying out a monthly isurvey of UK based businesses which
use the internet.
Until August 1999, the survey was known as the e-survey, but has now been re-branded
as the isurvey.
The isurvey includes responses from businesses across the UK,
with a wide range of business activities and sizes.
Questionnaires are sent out and returned by e-mail each month. As well
as investigating topical issues, the
survey aims to provide a indicator of prevailing business
conditions, well in advance of official statistics and traditional postal
surveys.
It has already received coverage in, amongst others, the
Bank of England Quarterly Report on Small Business Statistics,
First Voice, the magazine of the Federation of Small Businesses, and
The Guardian newspaper.
The Department of Trade and Industry recently chose to respond on-line to issues raised
by the survey on the topic of late payment legislation.
Increasing the survey's value depends on it
recruiting more volunteer UK businesses, willing to complete a very short
e-mail questionnaire each month.
Participation is open to all UK-based businesses.
If you own or manage a business in the UK and would like to take
part in the survey then send a blank e-mail to: volunteer@isurvey.co.uk.
All individual replies will be kept strictly confidential.
Only anonymised results will be published, and your e-mail address
will not be passed on to any third party.
For any other queries, including suggestions for future topical questions,
e-mail us at: isurvey@mccannics.co.uk.
